2016 Asia-Pacific Intangible Cultural Heritage Multimedia Contest

ICH in Our Daily Life, ICH Multimedia Contest

On the occasion of its fifth anniversary, ICHCAP is holding the 2016 Asia-Pacific Intangible Cultural Heritage Multimedia Contest to rediscover ICH and ruminate on the significance of participation and safeguarding. The contest is organized into two categories—photography and video—under the theme ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage in Our Daily Lives’ for ICH in the Asia-Pacific region. The contest will be open for entries from 1 November to 30 November. Winners to be awarded with prizes and certificates and may be offered an opportunity to promote their work through an online exhibition and participate in other ICHCAP events. Through the contest, ICHCAP expects to raise public awareness about the 2003 Convention and ICH while emphasizing the significance of cultural diversity and stimulate intercultural dialogue.

Contest Overview

Entry qualifications: No restrictions; open to anyone who loves Asia-Pacific ICH

  • Each individual or team (no more than two members) may submit up to three entries per category
  • In the photograph category, a series of photographs on a single topic or similar topics are to be submitted as a single entry

Contest theme: Intangible Cultural Heritage in Our Daily Lives

Contest categories: Photography and video

Contents: Photos and videos of ICH in the Asia-Pacific region

  • Creative work that raises awareness of specific ICH elements in the Asia-Pacific region; or
  • Creative work that conveys the importance of ICH safeguarding(designation, documentation, research, conservation, safeguarding, promotion, development, transmission through formal and informal education) in the Asia-Pacific region; or
  • Creative work portraying the practicing or safeguarding of ICH based on the participation of ICH communities in the Asia-Pacific region.
